In the spirit of ideas woth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

By general definition, a spectrum is a range of different colors, produced when light passes through a glass prism or through a drop of water.
However, Spectrum represents a lot more. A range of colors, ethnicities, and traditions; a range of ideas, opinions, and practices; a range of gender, interests, and personalities. A condition is not limited to a specific set of rules or values but can vary, without gaps, across a continuum.
